The 2018 AQAN Seminar and Roundtable Meeting is jointly hosted by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and the Finance Accreditation Agency (FAA), Malaysia from 27 to 28 September 2018 in Penang, Malaysia. This follows the AQAN Executive Committee meeting.
The theme "Industry 4.0” in Higher Education” involves the use of advancements in communication and information technology to increase the degree of automation and digitisation of production, manufacturing and industrial processes. It is the digitisation of industrial value chains and networks that is regarded as the next industry revolution. The impact is profound as the new technologies reshape the future of employment, as machines, and to some degree, robots, will eliminate the need for manpower in repetitive jobs and enhance productivity. Where does that leave quality assurance? How can quality assurance agencies leverage on this change? What are the changes required in the current quality assurance structure to promote employability and mobility of graduates?
Higher education and the quality assurance communities are increasingly faced with challenging yet exciting time in re-imagining the provisions of programmes and quality assurance in the face of Industry 4.0. Transformation, innovation and agility are the key words of the day and tomorrow if the communities in the region want to be seen as leading rather than responding to radical technological changes. All of these will have a huge impact on graduates in terms of employability, mobility and recognition of qualifications as we progress towards an integrated ASEAN Economic Community.
In this light, the AQAN Seminar will discuss and take stock of the current developments to predict and transform the provision of higher education programmes and QA in producing graduates for tomorrow.
