Teh Ija retired from the Securities in March 2017 where she had served for 17 years in various capacity including as an Executive Director from July 2006 – July 2017 and as Advisor of Special Projects in the Chairman’s Office from August 2016 – March 2017. She has over 30 years of experience in economic policy-making, international finance, capital market policies and regulation, human capital development and training and education.
As a member of the SC Executive Team she has had direct responsibility for enterprise-level subjects including investor education, strategic HCM, industry capacity-building and SME access to market-based financing. As business group head, she managed the departments that provide day-to-day operations in Human Resources, IT, Finance and Procurement, Facilities Management and Corporate Affairs.
Teh Ija began her career as an Administrative and Diplomatic Officer in the Prime Minister’s department, and built her competency in the area of international trade and finance through 24 years in the government as Lead Negotiator in the WTO, ASEAN and APEC for financial services, as well as the MOF representative in World Bank and IMF Meetings.
She has a BA (Hons) from University of Malaysia and an MBA from Southern New Hampshire University (formerly known as New Hampshire College), USA.
