Kha Loon is currently a Director of VCAP Asset Managers, Malaysia; an investment management company licensed by the Securities Commission. He chairs the Audit Committee and is a member of the Investment Committee. He is also a Member of the Listing Committee of the Stock Exchange, Malaysia, Technical Committee Member of the Finance Accreditation Agency in Malaysia and Board Member of CFA Malaysia.
Kha Loon held various executive positions at CFA Institute from October 1999 to August 2013 including Special Projects Director, Head, Asian Operations, Senior Policy Director and Head, Standards and Financial Market Integrity. He started and spearheaded the Asia Pacific group as part of a global team with staff in New York, Charlottesville, London and Hong Kong. Kha Loon authored and co–authored a number of research papers as part of the engagement process, which helped establish CFA views and positions on related party transactions, REITS Governance and periodic reporting by retail funds. He was involved in corporate governance reforms in the region, particularly in ASEAN, India, Japan and China; the involvement includes consultations with the various stock exchanges, securities regulators, speaking at public seminars and private forums to debate and discuss national reform agendas. He had been an active member of OECD Asian Roundtable since 2005.
From 1976 to 1999, Kha Loon worked at the Securities Commission, Malaysia; Standard Chartered Bank, Hong Leong Group of Companies and PriceWaterHouse; where he gained experience as an internal and external auditor, financial controller, treasurer and regulator of financial markets. Kha Loon is a member of Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants since 1982 and a Chartered Financial Analyst since 1993.
